Mary Peter is a Russian-trained physician. She spent 3+ years working in primary care in her home country, Nigeria. As early as elementary school, she knew she wanted a career in medicine because she had a passion born out of curiosity and fueled by the dysfunctional health care system she grew up in.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, where she is learning about how policies can drive change and improve indices and outcomes for underserved and marginalized populations. She also wants to advocate for policies and investments that will provide more support and protection for health workers around the world.

Mary was a 2022 IntraHealth-UNC Summer Fellow at IntraHealth International.
