The Global Fund

Alex Winch is a health economist and specialist in health financing advocacy for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Alex works on domestic financing advocacy, with a focus on increased, and more effective use of, domestic resources for health, since April 2019. Since 2017, Alex has worked as part of the international Decision Support Initiative (iDSI), focused on advancing efforts for evidence-based decision making in health in low and middle-income countries. Alex initially joined the Global Fund in 2014, following undergraduate and graduate degrees, respectively in Economics and Health Economics from the University of York. Initially Alex supported the development of the $14 billion agency's sustainability, transition and co-financing policy along with the market shaping strategy.
